The paper published the story on January 24th that claimed they had already made custody arrangements and divided their assets. However, lawyer for the couple, Keith Schilling said the reports were false and intrusive given that they were republished in nearly every celebrity magazine. According to the news story, the couple were said to have paid a visit to a divorce lawyer in December and that they had arranged splitting up their £205m in assets and children. It also said that the final agreement had been signed at the end of January and the separation was due to happen soon. Jolie and Pitt are not actually married although they have been together for the past six years in a serious relationship and share six children. The paper is owned by Newscorp which also owns Fox studios that produced the film on which the couple fell in love Mr and Mrs SmithNews of the World lawsuit by Pitt and Jolie
Hollywood power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has launched a lawsuit against the tabloid paper News of the World after it published news that the two had broken up.
Schilling added that the paper refused to apologize despite reasonable requests and that the pair was also refused a retraction.
A statement from Pitt and Jolie’s lawyer also stated that the man said to be the divorce lawyer assisting the pair, Sorrell Trope, had never in fact met them. Trope is said to have written in the statement that he has never met either of the couple and that has not had any involvement in any transactions with them.
